Speaker:

Richard W. Fisher assumed the office of president and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas on April 4, 2005. In this role, Fisher serves as a member of the Federal Open Market Committee, the Federal Reserve’s principal monetary policymaking group.

Fisher is former vice chairman of Kissinger McLarty Associates, a strategic advisory firm chaired by former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger.

Fisher began his career in 1975 at the private bank of Brown Brothers Harriman & Co., where he specialized in fixed income and foreign exchange markets. He became assistant to the secretary of the Treasury during the Carter administration, working on issues related to the dollar crisis of 1978–79. He then returned to Brown Brothers to found their Texas operations in Dallas.

Mariarosa Verde is a Managing Director and Head of Credit Market Research at Fitch Ratings. Her responsibilities include examining rating and credit quality trends, conducting corporate and structured finance default and recovery studies, and commenting on developments in the loan and bond markets. Mariarosa has published articles on default risk and other credit topics in professional magazines and books. Credit Market Research data and analysis is often cited in national and trade publications.

Prior to joining Fitch in 1998, Mariarosa worked as a high yield analyst at the Chase Manhattan Bank. Mariarosa completed Chase’s corporate credit training program.

Stephen M. Sachs is Director of Trading At Rydex

Steve has more than 12 years of experience trading securities in the financial markets. In 2002, he began at Rydex as director of trading, where he oversees all securities and derivatives trading. Steve is a member of the Rydex’s senior management team and the Rydex investment strategy committee.

Prior to joining Rydex, Steve spent two years as senior equity trader at Eagle Asset Management, where he was responsible for the planning and execution of trading strategies for $3 billion in growth, technology and hedge fund portfolios. Previously, he was senior equity trader at Banc One Investment Advisors; account executive, institutional custody services at Banc One Investment Management Group; securities trader at Nationwide Insurance; vice president/partner at Winand, Platt and Sachs Investments, Inc.; and a registered representative at Diversified Capital Markets, Inc. He holds a bachelor’s of science degree in finance from Franklin University in Ohio and studied international relations and economics at The Ohio State University.

Due to the breadth of his industry and market knowledge, Steve has become a regular resource for market commentary for The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg News and the Associated Press. Steve has also spoken at industry events on topics involving equity trading including “best execution.”
