Richard E. Cripps is the Chief Investment Officer and Senior Portfolio Manager of EquityCompass Strategies, a research and investment advisory unit of Choice Financial Partners, a wholly owned subsidiary of Stifel Financial Corp. (SF-NYSE). Mr. Cripps joined Stifel Financial through the acquisition of Legg Mason’s Capital Markets Group from Citigroup in December 2005. Mr. Cripps directed the Portfolio Strategy Group of Stifel Nicolaus Equity Research prior to his current role, where he also served as a senior member of the investment committee with responsibilities for equity market analysis and portfolio strategy. .

Frank E. Nothaft was appointed
to the position of chief economist in December 2001 and vice president
in March 2004. In this position, Nothaft is responsible for primary
and secondary mortgage market analysis and research, macroeconomic
analysis and forecasting. Nothaft is also involved in the analysis
of affordable lending activities and policy issues affecting the
housing industry.
Prior to being named chief economist, Nothaft served as deputy
chief economist for Freddie Mac from 1988, and as a senior economist
from November 1986. Nothaft was an economist with the Board of Governors
of the Federal Reserve System from 1983 until 1986, where he served
in the mortgage and consumer finance section and as the assistant
to Governor Henry C. Wallich.
A widely quoted expert on housing and economic issues, Nothaft
makes frequent guest appearances in both local and national media
outlets.

Wayne A. Abernathy joined the American Bankers Association in February of 2005, and serves in the newly created position of Executive Vice President for Financial Institutions Policy and Regulatory Affairs. Mr. Abernathy oversees ABA groups that deal with policy development, regulatory issues, bank general counsels, economics, securities and investment, and risk management.
Before joining ABA, Mr. Abernathy served two years as Treasury Assistant Secretary for Financial Institutions under President George W. Bush, receiving the Alexander Hamilton Award in recognition of his service. In that office he was also a member of the Board of Directors of the Securities Investor Protection Corporation. Prior to his work in the Treasury, Mr. Abernathy served as Staff Director of the Senate Banking Committee, under Chairman Phil Gramm.
